Markham requires approval before new work begins.
Markham’s current program lists maximum rebates of $1,750 for an indoor sanitary or storm backwater valve and $2,000 for an outdoor sanitary or storm backwater valve. New installations require City pre-approval, technical review, CCTV information, a building permit, inspection and the required final application records.
The current City page states that the permit deadline is April 30, 2027 and the rebate-application deadline is July 31, 2027. Markham is not affiliated with private contractors and does not call residents to request installations.
